Every student in Haiti needs new  textbooks every year

Students all over Haiti use "consumable" workbooks for all subjects, which combine reading and student writing. We encourage the Light and Peace schools to use wet erase sheets, individual blackboards, and composition to practice skills.

The good news is the new school buildings in Trois Mares and Chapottin feature aluminum louvre windows which bounce in natural light when open and can close out the rains.  They are not the same as glass and screens, but the best we've found in Haiti. Nevertheless, the paperback workbooks get pretty beat up in the Haitian heat, cold and damp.

More good news, the Haitian Minister of Education has been overhauling the whole education system and publishing new books with updated lessons and methods.

Our goal this year is to raise over $15,000 to supply all the students in Trois Mares, Chapottin and St. Louis d'Ayiti with new books. This is a leap from smaller goals of the past because all our enrollments keep growing.

You can help by accepting one of our challenges! The GO FISH TEXTBOOK CHALLENGE urges kids to sign up family and friends to support their reading for 30 days. Our JOY OF READING CHALLENGE encourages adults to remember how important reading is in their lives and pay forward the benefit .
